The Atmosphere in Berlin this July
Are you joining? DWeb Camp July 8th - 12th, Local-First Conf July 12th - 14th

The atmosphere community is descending on Berlin this summer, with two back to back events happening. Let us know if you're coming, and let's find each other there!
DWeb Camp Berlin, July 8th - 12th
The long running DWeb Camp is having their first event outside of California, in Alte Hölle a few hours outside of Berlin.
DWeb Camp 2026: Root Systems is a five-day gathering in nature for builders and dreamers dedicated to building a decentralized web (DWeb). A web that is private, resilient, and beyond the control of a few central powers. Like forests, decentralized systems derive strength from what lies beneath the surface: dense networks of roots, sharing resources without hierarchy, and coordination that persists even when individual nodes disappear.
DWeb Camp: Root Systems invites participants to build technologies that–like living ecosystems–adapt, regenerate, and endure.
The CFP is still open, and early bird tickets are still on sale, both until May 15th, so hurry up and submit!
Local-First Conf, July 12th - 14th
This is the third year of Local-First Conference, and they are highlighting what matters to their community:
"Local first" is a term for software that prioritizes data ownership, user agency, and empowering of end users to do more with their digital tools.
Software creation is changing rapidly through LLM-assisted coding and AI agents. But our values are the same as ever.
We’re not here to chase the latest trend, but to think long-term about what we want computing and software to look like in 3, 5, or 10 years
Data ownership & user agency are obviously very much in line with atmosphere community values, so it's no surprise to see Bluesky sponsoring the event, and @pfrazee.com speaking. Tangled @tangled.org is also a sponsor.
There are only a very few standard pricing tickets left before switching to late-bird pricing, get yours on the website https://www.localfirstconf.com/
Coordinating & Community
The at:// events above will help us find each other at these larger events. There are proposals to both submitted around atproto, as well as time and space in and around them to connect and share what we're working on.
Since these two events are bringing a lot of out of town folks to Berlin, the ATProto Berlin crew @atproto.berlin are talking about a potential hack day on July 15th.
